FAQ

Dinner bell that calls the horses at feed time

How much does it cost?

We do not establish a fee for our services. VTYR operates exclusively on public and private donations. Most parents and guardians quickly experience the positive impact our programs and staff have on their youth, and choose to financially support us, however, if you are not able to donate at this time, that’s fine, don’t let that stop you from participating.

Where will my donation go?

Unless otherwise designated by the donor, all monetary donations go into the general operating fund. These funds are used to pay for program expenses, horse care and ranch maintenance.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

Yes – VTYR is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) tax exempt public charity… This means we can generate tax deductible receipts for donations including but not limited to: monetary donations, and in-kind donations such as ranch equipment, building supplies, horses, horse tack, real estate, vehicles etc.

Can we visit the ranch?

We would love to have you visit the Ranch. We are open year around by appointment only. Please feel free to contact us to schedule a tour.

Can visiting families or groups be hosted overnight at the Ranch?

We are unable to host overnight guests, families, volunteer groups or participants due to the limited size of our facility. However if you have a group of volunteers interested in a short term mission trip or service project, please contact us for housing options.

How can I get my child involved?

If you are interested in scheduling a session at the ranch for yourself or your child, you can contact us through our website or by telephone. Someone from the ranch will be in touch to schedule an appointment.

Can I drop my child off at the ranch?

Part of our mission is to bring families together. Because of this principle we ask that parents accompany their child. A parent’s presence is often central to a child’s healing process. The impact of a parent cheering their child to victory has become very apparent to us. Allowing fathers, mothers and guardians a chance to rest in the shade and enjoy the beauty God has provided is also a part of what we do.

What is the demographic make-up of the people served by Valley Trotters Youth Ranch?

VTYR serves primarily children & youth between the ages of 8 and 18. Being a kid in this day and age is tough… Some of the kids that come to the ranch are considered “at-risk” or “special needs”. They may have mental, physical, emotional or functional challenges. The remaining youth we work with are simply kids who don’t have access to horses through any other means. We believe that as “healthy” kids play and grow beside “broken” kids, they are both encouraged to have a greater appreciation and understanding of others. It also brings hope and belief to the spirit of wounded kids that they too can have a bright and productive future. For more information on how our programs might benefit you, feel free to contact us!

Is Valley Trotters Youth Ranch a religious organization?

VTYR is a faith based organization. We are founded on the same Judeo-Christian values that our nation was built upon. Faith on the ranch is “lived” not “preached.” The Founders, Board of Directors, and Staff all believe in God and the saving grace of His Son Jesus Christ. It is our greatest desire to serve God; by the demonstration of our faith through action, by our love for Him and the support of families. It is our highest honor to serve children and families of all backgrounds.
